New Australian HATE-SPEECH Laws, EMERGENCY MESSAGE!

The British Australian Community (BAC) is horrified at the proposed “Hate Speech” laws being rushed into the Australian Parliament.

We believe these laws represent the greatest threat to Australia’s freedom and democratic traditions in the nation’s history.

Free speech is a foundational freedom — and when citizens are no longer free to express an opinion, tyranny is never far behind. Throughout history, the freest and most stable nations have been those that guarantee freedom of expression, while oppressive regimes rely on vague and expandable definitions of “hate” to silence dissent, punish opposition, and intimidate ordinary citizens.

These proposed laws appear deliberately broad, dangerously unclear, and open to political abuse. Terms like “hate” are left undefined, granting enormous discretionary power to government ministers and state authorities. Passed in this way — with minimal consultation and limited public scrutiny — this legislation sets an ominous precedent for the future treatment of Australian citizens.

If enacted, we believe Australia will follow the trajectory of other nations where speech policing becomes normalised, and where enforcement falls hardest on those least protected by political and cultural power.
