Passed in 1946, is a U.S. federal law that prohibits extortion or robbery affecting interstate or foreign commerce.

Codified at 18 U.S.C. § 1951, it targets acts like using force, violence, or fear to obtain property or interfere with commerce, including bribery or corruption by public officials. It applies to both individuals and organized crime, with penalties up to seven years for extortion and 20 years for robbery.
