Australia isn’t obsessed with housing because it’s shelter, it’s obsessed because it’s a casino.
And like every casino economy, it feels rich right up until it collapses.
We’ve turned homes into chips, mortgages into leverage, and property prices into our national self-worth. Governments don’t build prosperity anymore, they inflate house prices and call it “economic management.”
Every dollar funneled into tax-advantaged property speculation is a dollar stolen from productive businesses, real wages, infrastructure, and the future. We are actively starving the economy that actually creates value, while supercharging the one that extracts it.
And here’s the part no one wants to admit: you cannot run a nation on asset inflation forever, because eventually it will end in collapse – and Australia could be far closer to that point than most people realise.
