Austin Appelbee prayed throughout the swim, reached shore exhausted, then ran to get help, leading to a helicopter rescue that saved his family after hours in the water. His mother called sending him to shore one of the hardest decisions of her life, as his courage turned a near-tragedy into a heroic rescue.
