Iranâs Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned that any US attack on Iran would trigger a âregional war,â accused Washington of seeking to seize Iranâs oil and gas resources, and described recent nationwide protests as a foreign-backed âseditionâ similar to a coup that was suppressed.
This as US President Donald Trump said he hoped to reach a negotiated deal with Iran, confirmed that US military assets were moving closer to the country, and declined to reveal whether a final decision on escalation had been made.
Israelâs army chief Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir reportedly held meetings with senior US defense officials in Washington focused on Iran, as the IDF sought coordination and advance warning amid reports of possible US military action.
