The newly elected Labor MP for Menzies, Gabriel Ng, began his maiden speech noting his electorate “resisted the devastating impacts of colonialism” and expressed gratitude for end of the White Australia policy, which allowed his Chinese-Singaporean family immigrate to Australia.
