On July 27, 2025, 17 reservoirs in Beijing’s Miyun, Huairou, and Pinggu areas released water simultaneously, causing a rare hydrological crisis. Meanwhile, 352 mountain flood channels were completely closed, intensifying the situation.
After the release of water from Miyun Reservoir, the worst-hit area was Taishitun Town, located less than 10 kilometers from the reservoir.
