Vietnam has deactivated and seized the funds from more than 86 million bank accounts belonging to citizens who refused to hand over their biometric data.

Officials claim the move is about stopping fraud and money laundering, while at the same time driving the country toward a cashless society.

Vietnam is being used as a testing ground for what many are now calling the New Banking Order.
