David Shoebridge says the Greens canā€™t support amending the hate speech bill because of the ā€˜overreachingā€™ terms in the legislation, arguing it would require ā€˜surgicalā€™ changes to become viable.

More than 7,000 submissions were lodged on the bill within the allotted timeframe.

Greens Leader Larissa Waters wants the bill split into separate parts, saying the party can support gun reform but considers the rest dead.
