US President Donald Trump threatened Colombia’s president Gustavo Petro, said a US military operation targeting Colombia’s government “sounds good” to him, and claimed Cuba “looks like it’s ready to fall,” while also saying the US is “in charge” of Venezuela following Nicolás Maduro’s detention.
This as Denmark’s prime minister Mette Frederiksen told Donald Trump to stop making threats about taking over Greenland, saying the US has no right to annex any part of the Danish kingdom and stressing that Greenland and Denmark are NATO allies with existing defence arrangements with Washington.
North Korea said Kim Jong Un oversaw hypersonic projectile test flights, stressing the need to strengthen the country’s nuclear deterrent amid what he described as a recent geopolitical crisis, with state media saying the projectile struck targets about 1,000km away.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is set to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing as he seeks to reset strained relations with South Korea’s largest trading partner, with talks expected to cover regional security, economic ties and cultural restrictions.
